Wall-Mounted Jib Crane

A wall-mounted jib crane covers a defined working area with a single slewing arm. Because the arm is fixed to a wall or an existing column, it takes no floor space.

Its real benefit: unloading the overhead crane

In a factory a large share of the overhead crane's time goes on moving small parts from place to place, while an operator waiting for a heavy lift stands in the queue. A jib at the station takes over those small jobs; the overhead crane is reserved for its real work and waiting along the line drops markedly.

The second effect is on the operator. Able to lift at their own machine, without waiting for anyone, they work both faster and more safely. Manual lifting attempts — the main source of back and shoulder injury — disappear.

Selection criteria

Arm length follows the furthest point the operator must reach; an arm longer than needed increases both the fixing moment and the cost. Capacity is the heaviest part plus the lifting attachment.

Slew angle depends on the wall position. An arm working in front of an open wall slews roughly 180 degrees; near a corner that angle narrows and the working circle shrinks. When planning the layout, the area swept by the arm is checked for columns, racking or pipe runs.

Fixing calculation

The jib transfers into the structure not only vertical load but the moment arising from arm length. The moment capacity of the fixing point is verified before installation, with anchor plates and reinforcement specified where needed. Skipping this check can lead to cracking in the column or progressive sag.
