Floor Crane

A floor crane is wheeled lifting equipment that works without being tied to a fixed rail. It is taken to where it is needed and put away when the job is done.

When it is the right tool

There are situations where installing a permanent crane makes no sense: temporary assembly work, overhaul carried out a few times a year, infrequent removal of heavy parts, cells set up for trial production. In such work the investment in an overhead or gantry crane does not pay back against the frequency of use.

The floor crane fills that gap: the investment is small, no installation is required, and it takes up no space when not in use.

Condition of use: the floor

The safety of this equipment depends directly on the floor. Because wheel load bears on a small area, floor flatness and bearing capacity are decisive. On sloped, loose or pitted ground the risk of overturning rises, so the area of use is limited and the operator must know that limit.

Moving with the load raised lifts the equipment's centre of gravity. Keeping the load as low as possible while travelling is the simplest and most effective protection against tipping.

Selection

Capacity, lifting height, wheel arrangement and leg spread follow the task. Where manoeuvring through narrow passages is required, overall width and turning radius are taken into account.

Maintenance workshops, machine assembly and commissioning areas, die change work, production cells needing temporary setup, heavy part movement inside warehouses.
